Monarch's Commitment to Tradition Shines at Mey Highland Games
King Charles demonstrated unwavering determination as he attended a long-held royal tradition despite challenging conditions.
On Saturday, the King ventured out in a heavy downpour to participate in the Mey Highland Games, held in the village of John O’Groats in the far north of Scotland, to honour his late grandmother, Elizabeth I.
Wearing traditional Scottish attire, including a kilt, a tan suit jacket, a buttoned-up waistcoat, and knee-high socks, the King arrived with an umbrella and later sought shelter in a tent to enjoy the event.
The Mey Highland Games began in 1970 to celebrate the birthday of the late Queen Mother, whose fondness for the event led to its establishment as an annual tradition.
Throughout the event, Charles appeared in high spirits, taking time to wave and shake hands with members of the public.
The King consistently greets locals during his visits and takes the opportunity to learn about their lives, an aspect of his role that he greatly values.
This outing precedes the King’s eagerly awaited holidays in Balmoral next week.
