Cancer-Stricken Monarch's Primary Concern Remains His "Darling Boy"
King Charles is reportedly deeply concerned about how his younger son, Prince Harry, will manage his life until he achieves financial stability. This worry is adding to the monarch's health challenges, as he battles cancer.
In a new book by royal reporter Robert Jobson, Catherine: The Princess of Wales, it is revealed that the "Harry problem" constantly troubles Charles, a fact well-known among Palace staff.
After stepping down from their senior royal roles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quickly signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Netflix, resulting in several explosive revelations about the royal family. Harry's memoir, Spare, was the best-selling non-fiction book of 2023.
Jobson claims in his book that there is a "Sussex-shaped void in the Royal Family," a gap that has never been more significant for the monarch. He also suggests that Harry and Meghan are "trying to find an income stream […] that doesn’t involve dishing dirt on the Royal Family," as the public has grown tired of their repeated complaints.
Despite this, Charles remains worried about his "darling boy" Harry, particularly because Prince William is "adamant" about not providing any assistance to the Sussexes. According to a Palace official, "What worries His Majesty, and his top team, is what is going to happen when all the money runs out."
Jobson further claims that while Charles has made it clear he will never close the door on his second child, a meaningful reconciliation seems unlikely at present.
In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry stated that his father "literally cut me off financially," which led him to secure deals with Netflix and Spotify.
The last meeting between King Charles and Prince Harry occurred in February of this year, following the monarch's cancer diagnosis. Although Harry has visited the UK several times since then, no further meetings have taken place, and there have been no updates on a reconciliation between the father and son.
