King Charles Makes Major Announcement Following Kate Middleton’s Balmoral Appearance

Monarch Appoints Errollyn Wallen as Master of the King’s Music After Princess Kate’s Outing

Buckingham Palace has made a significant announcement regarding King Charles III’s latest decision, shortly after Princess Kate stepped out with the royal family. Following the Princess of Wales’s attendance at a service at Crathie Church on the Balmoral Estate on Sunday, the 75-year-old King appointed renowned singer-songwriter Errollyn Wallen as the new Master of the King’s Music.

This marks the first major appointment of King Charles’s reign. The royal family shared a touching photo of the King along with a statement highlighting the importance of the role. According to the King’s office, the honorary position is awarded to "a musician of distinction who has contributed to the musical life of the UK and the Commonwealth."

Belize-born British composer, pianist, and singer-songwriter Errollyn Wallen CBE, who previously received an OBE from King Charles in 2007 when he was the Prince of Wales, expressed her excitement at this honor. Wallen, known for her compositions for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and as the first black woman to have a work featured in the Proms, has also composed pieces for Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden and Diamond Jubilees.

Responding to her appointment, Wallen said, "I am thrilled to accept this royal appointment."
