Interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Upsets King Charles
King Charles has found support from a key royal family member following the headline-grabbing interview of his estranged son, Prince Harry, and daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared on CBS News on August 4 to discuss the impact of cyberbullying and offer support to parents whose children have been victims of online hate.
The interview included a clip from the couple's infamous sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, where Meghan spoke about her battle with suicidal thoughts. Harry and Meghan's bombshell claims during their Oprah interview had previously upset the royal family, and the recent broadcast has stirred those emotions once again.
Amid rising tensions, King Charles has reportedly been relying on his family, particularly the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie Wessex. Royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine, "I think we can expect Sophie to keep up or even increase her workload as the key member of the royal family she now is. She has really come into her own in recent years and is now rightly getting the recognition she deserves."
Bond added, "The King relies heavily on the small band of working royals he has around him, particularly since his cancer diagnosis and with Catherine out of action. This, I think, has brought him closer than ever to his youngest brother and Sophie."
