Expert Insights Reveal King Charles's Continued Protection of Prince Andrew
Despite being stripped of his royal patronages and titles, Prince Andrew continues to enjoy certain privileges afforded by his brother, King Charles. The Duke of York, embroiled in controversy due to his connections with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and accusations of raping a minor—charges he settled with Virginia Giuffre—remains a complex figure within the royal family.
Editor-in-Chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, revealed to The Sun that Prince Andrew's family, including King Charles, still supports him. She stated that although the public is largely "anti-him," his family is not. Seward emphasized that they "actually believe him," reflecting the sentiments of the late Queen, who also trusted Andrew's narrative. However, Seward noted that despite familial support, Andrew's infamous Newsnight interview severely damaged his public image.
Seward described Andrew's current life as "very narrow," with limited social engagements and a desire to avoid public scrutiny and criticism. While he retains some friendships, their number has dwindled significantly.
King Charles has taken on the responsibility of funding Andrew's security costs, even though Andrew is no longer a working royal. However, Charles has drawn the line at financing Andrew's extravagant lifestyle, mindful of public perceptions.
Tensions have risen between the brothers over Andrew's residence, Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion. Andrew has been instructed to vacate and move into Frogmore Cottage, formerly occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Despite these orders, Andrew insists on staying at the Lodge, defying King Charles's directives. As the disagreement intensifies, the potential for Charles to withdraw financial support and forcibly remove Andrew from the property looms.
