Meghan Markle Dubbed "Princess of Woke" for Advocacy Efforts
Meghan Markle, reportedly at odds with Princess Kate, who is battling cancer, has been given a new and surprising title for her activism and advocacy.
The Duchess of Sussex has been labelled "the princess of woke" by GB News host Bev Turner, who delivered a critical analysis of Prince Harry's wife.
In a discussion with Michael Cole, Bev appeared to take a subtle jab at Meghan for embracing progressive causes, despite her Netflix hit Suits being described as a "fantastic drama series created before we got all woke."
"I love Suits. It's the most fantastic drama series created before we got all woke," Bev commented.
Meghan has been vocal about feminism and racism, frequently citing her successful campaign at age 11 to persuade Procter & Gamble to alter a sexist dish soap commercial. As a humanitarian, the Duchess has carved out a reputation in activism through her involvement in various philanthropic projects.
She expressed, "I have thought a lot about words that become unnecessarily charged as it pertains to women, like feminism, for example, often treated, as taboo, as the f-word."
Meghan continued, "Or the word woke. I know I'm saying 'woke,' I fully realise I am spoon-feeding the clickbait, but here's why. Because woke by definition means alert to injustice in society, especially racism."
"Now, what's loaded or wrong with that? And when you layer a woman into that seemingly anodyne definition, it becomes for many almost disgusting—'outrageous,' they would say—but why?"
