Duchess Faces New Challenges After Spotify Deal Fallout
Meghan Markle is reportedly rethinking her career strategy following the collapse of her high-profile Spotify deal. The Duchess of Sussex, who had received praise for her Spotify podcast Archetypes, saw the streaming giant terminate their multi-million-dollar contract with her and Prince Harry, citing unmet "productivity benchmarks."
Despite the initial success of Archetypes, Meghan announced a new podcast series with Lemonada Media, scheduled to launch at the beginning of 2024. However, the project has been postponed until next year.
Royal expert Gareth Russell, speaking to GB News, suggested that Meghan is likely to reassess her approach to ensure her new venture aligns with audience expectations and avoids previous pitfalls. "It's understandable that the Sussexes and their team might feel embarrassed by the high-profile criticism during their Spotify era and comments about their work ethic," Russell explained.
He added, "They could be delaying the project to tactically rethink what messages and content they want to deliver." This reevaluation may help Meghan and her team avoid repeating past mistakes and improve the reception of her upcoming podcast.
