Duchess of Sussex Marks 43rd Birthday with Candid Interview
On her 43rd birthday, Meghan Markle opened up in an interview with Jane Pauley for CBS Sunday Morning, revealing that she "hasn’t scraped the surface" of her experiences within the Royal Family. Alongside Prince Harry, 39, Meghan discussed their ongoing efforts to support families affected by online bullying and abuse.
The conversation revisited Meghan and Harry’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Meghan disclosed her struggles with suicidal thoughts while serving as a working royal. Meghan showed visible discomfort when Pauley referenced the previous interview, acknowledging the difficulty of revisiting such personal topics.
Despite her discomfort, Meghan emphasised the importance of being open about trauma as part of the healing process, expressing her desire to help others feel supported and believed. She reflected on her journey, stating, "I haven’t really scraped the surface on my experience."
While Meghan claims she has much more to share, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously shared insights into their royal lives through interviews and their Netflix docuseries. Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, released in January 2023, also provides a detailed account of their experiences and decision to step back from royal duties.
The couple is currently working on two new series for Netflix, scheduled for release later this year, which will continue to explore their story and perspectives.
