Duchess of Sussex Reacts to Surprising Disparities Between Harry and William
Meghan Markle, who joined the British royal family in 2017 following her engagement to Prince Harry, quickly became aware of some surprising realities within the royal household.
According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, in his book Catherine, The Princess of Wales, Meghan noticed unusual treatment towards her husband, Prince Harry, shortly after their 2018 wedding. This realisation contributed to what would eventually become a significant rift within the royal family.
While Meghan was not described as jealous, she was reportedly "taken aback" by the apparent inequality between Harry and his older brother, Prince William. Jobson's book, as cited by the New York Post, reveals that Meghan was particularly surprised by the stark differences in living conditions between the two brothers.
“When Meghan and Harry visited William and Catherine’s apartment, while they were still living at Nottingham Cottage, Meghan was surprised by the disparity in their living standards,” a close source shared with Jobson.
The source added, “It was perhaps the beginning of all the tensions between the two couples.”
At the time, Prince Harry and Meghan were residing in Nottingham Cottage, one of the smallest properties on the Windsor estate, which featured just two rooms and a single bathroom. Although the couple later moved to Frogmore Cottage after their marriage, they were required to vacate the property following their decision to step back from senior royal duties in 2020.
