Royal Family Braces for Fallout as Sussexes Plan High-Profile Colombia Tour
Meghan Markle is reportedly preparing to enact what some are calling the "ultimate revenge" against the royal family following her and Prince Harry’s perceived rejection by the Firm.
In 2020, Meghan and Harry stepped down from their roles as senior royals, relocating to the US in search of privacy and a safer environment. Along with their departure, they lost royal security and other privileges associated with their former positions.
An insider told OK! magazine, "When they left, they asked to continue representing the family on tours but were denied. She feels this tour is the ultimate revenge, as they were deeply hurt by the rejection."
Now, the couple appears to be on a mission to outshine key royal figures through their official tours. After a successful visit to Nigeria in May, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to head to Colombia this Thursday.
Meghan reportedly views the Colombia tour as her opportunity to demonstrate her star power and to show the world what the Royal Family is missing without her. "She knows how much she can turn it on, and events like this were the part of royal life that truly appealed to her," the source added. "She was furious when that was taken away because she knows she’s such an asset."
Meghan is said to believe that she and Harry "shine" during engagements with dignitaries and locals, and sees these tours as crucial to their brand and their goal of positioning themselves as the "alternative Royal Family."
