Concerns Arise Over Sussexes Being Used as 'Political Pawns'
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began their Colombia tour under heavy security, amid reports of 'death threats' against Vice President Francia Márquez, who invited the Sussexes to the country.
Concerns have emerged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be used as "political pawns" by Colombia’s key political figure, as shocking details about their trip and security measures have been revealed.
Journalist Nick Pisa, accompanying the couple, reported that they are traveling with a security convoy of "up to 15 cars," while Márquez, described as a "controversial" figure, has been the target of death threats from Colombians.
Pisa, speaking to GB News, suggested that the Sussexes' visit might be used as a "distraction" from broader issues in the country. He noted that the couple's security detail included 14-car convoys as they navigated Bogotá.
The heightened security contrasts sharply with the couple's concerns about safety in the UK, raising questions about their decision to undertake such a visit. Despite their presence, there appears to be limited interest among the general Colombian public regarding the royal visit.
