Duke and Duchess Face Criticism Over Colombia Trip as Debate Intensifies

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have sparked fresh controversy following their four-day visit to Colombia, with critics, including Piers Morgan, labeling the trip as a "stunt."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s tour has been widely criticized as "less impactful" compared to official royal engagements. “Meghan and Harry aren’t real royals these days. So, what gives them the right to prance around the world pretending to be proper royals on quasi-official visits? There are so many things wrong about this,” Morgan told The Sun.

However, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams offered a different perspective, calling the visit "successful" in enhancing the couple’s "international profile." He told GB News, “This is a positive royal tour, one of the best ways Britain projected its soft power. The Sussexes have jumped on the bandwagon.”

Despite Fitzwilliams' praise, a Mirror poll revealed that 90% of respondents were unconvinced by the Sussexes' recent trips, with many seeing them as less impactful than those of the official royal family.

Critics have been quick to denounce the couple’s efforts, pointing out that, as non-working royals, their tours lack the significance of traditional royal engagements. "They are not even in the same class as the Prince and Princess of Wales," commented one critic, while another dismissed the trip as "simply a freebie holiday to keep them in the limelight."

The ongoing debate highlights the challenges Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face in maintaining their public presence post-royal duties.
