Security Concerns and Missed Invitations Strain Sussexes' UK Connections
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped down from their senior royal duties to build a new life in the United States, have reportedly been given unflattering nicknames by their close friends in the UK. The Duke of Sussex has made several solo visits to Britain, but Meghan Markle has not returned since September 2022, when she attended the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth.
Despite maintaining relationships with several loved ones in the UK, Prince Harry and Meghan have been labeled as "the uninvitables" by some of their friends, according to a source cited by Express.co.uk. The insider revealed that ongoing security concerns have strained Harry's relationships over recent years.
"There have been times when Harry couldn't attend events that he was invited to," the source explained. "It's a shame because there are family members who love him dearly, and he still has several close friends in the UK."
The source further noted, "The nickname 'the uninvitables' was given to them [the Sussexes] because it would be almost impossible to get them to come along to anything. It's not really their fault, and because of the Home Office decision, they seem to be suffering because of it."
Prince Harry has been embroiled in a legal dispute with the Home Office after his security arrangements were downgraded following his departure from royal duties. Although Harry expresses a desire to spend more time in Britain, the ongoing security issues have made such visits "a logistical nightmare for his team."
