Subheadline: Ongoing Rift with the Sussexes Threatens Royal Stability
The rift between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the royal family remains unresolved, with no signs of reconciliation, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have consistently used opportunities to criticise the royal family, raising concerns about the monarchy's public image.
Fitzwilliams explained, "In recent weeks, they have not hesitated to bring up issues that could embarrass the royal family or highlight tensions, coming close to outright criticism."
While Harry and Meghan assert they are following their own path, Fitzwilliams suggests their actions often draw more attention to themselves rather than the royal family. He emphasised, "The Sussexes and the royal family have a very deep rift, which poses a significant problem."
This summer, Harry and Meghan are planning a trip to Colombia, having been invited by the country's Vice President, Francia Márquez. This visit will be their second unofficial royal tour after their trip to Nigeria in May.
Since stepping down from their official duties as working royals in 2020, Meghan and Harry have given multiple interviews discussing their experiences within the royal institution.
