Sussexes' Blunder Puts Multi-Million-Dollar Deal at Risk
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lucrative deal with Netflix is reportedly in jeopardy as the couple's recent actions have frustrated the streaming giant. Despite the success of their 2021 docuseries Harry & Meghan, which generated significant revenue and attention, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now at risk of losing their multi-million-dollar contract.
Royal author Angela Levin has suggested that Netflix bosses are growing increasingly tired of the couple’s missteps, which could lead to the cancellation of their deal. Levin explained to GB News, “The documentary was six episodes, full of grumbles and gruffs—that did phenomenally well, but nothing else has.”
According to Levin, Netflix is unimpressed with the couple’s recent project ideas, including Meghan’s cooking show and Harry’s interest in polo, which they deem unoriginal. The author also pointed out that the Sussexes’ recent trip to Colombia and their inability to fulfill their commitments have further irritated the streaming service.
Levin noted that Netflix, which has other priorities, may choose not to renew the $100,000 deal with the Sussexes, especially after their "quasi-royal" tours and the failed Spotify deal. She remarked, “Technically, they have messed up completely because they haven't done it properly. Netflix is fed up and has plenty of other projects on their line.”
