Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have arrived in Bogotá, Colombia, for their much-anticipated four-day visit, receiving a warm welcome from Vice President Francia Márquez on Thursday. Despite cautions from royal commentators and historians about potential security risks, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were undeterred in making the trip.
The Duchess of Sussex made a stylish appearance in a navy summer suit with neutral-toned accessories, while Prince Harry complemented her look with a dark blue suit and a bright blue button-down. The couple appeared in high spirits as they shared tea and traditional Colombian pan de bono at Márquez’s residence, where they also exchanged gifts with local dignitaries.
During their conversation, Vice President Márquez expressed her admiration for Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, and noted that she and the Sussexes share common goals in advocating for a safer digital future and improved mental health support worldwide.
The couple’s first official engagement in Colombia was a visit to the Colegio Cultura Popular, a local children’s school. There, they participated in a tour and an informational session led by the school’s head, Leonel Umaña Parra, and a student representative, José David.
In the afternoon, Meghan and Harry are scheduled to attend a theatre and dance performance at the Plaza del Carnaval y la Cultura in San Juan de Pasto. Their day will conclude with their participation in the Responsible Digital Future conference, where they will engage in discussions on internet safety, tech accountability, and the future of responsible technology—issues they have long championed.
This visit marks another significant chapter in the Duke and Duchess's ongoing global advocacy, underscoring their commitment to important social causes.
