Prince Harry made a heartfelt gesture towards Kate Middleton as he tackled the growing threat of fake news and its impact on mental health during his visit to Colombia.
The Duke of Sussex, along with Meghan Markle, began their official tour of Colombia on Thursday. On the first day, they visited a local school, Colegio Cultura Popular, and participated in a summit focused on raising awareness about creating safe online spaces.
In his speech, Harry spoke about the widespread anxiety surrounding AI and misinformation, stating that people are "scared and uncertain" about its impact.
In a move that appeared to defend his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, who faced online scrutiny during her battle with cancer, Harry emphasized, "What happens online within minutes transfers to the streets. People are acting on information that isn't true. It's up to all of us to distinguish truth from falsehood."
He called on influential figures to "take more responsibility" in promoting accurate information, warning that the unchecked spread of lies and harassment is eroding social cohesion.
Harry’s remarks followed a wave of conspiracy theories that emerged before Kate released a video message to clarify her situation amid her cancer struggles.
