Duke of Sussex Blames Key Royals for Feeling Pushed Out of the Firm
Prince Harry has reportedly blamed two senior members of the royal family for his decision to split from the Firm. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who left the royal family in 2020 two years after their wedding, relocated to the United States to seek a more private life.
After their departure, the couple was asked to leave Frogmore Cottage last year. It has now been revealed whom Prince Harry holds most accountable for what he perceives as his harsh treatment by the royal family.
Although Kate Middleton was central to the events surrounding the Sussexes' exit, she is not believed to be the individual Harry is most upset with. While Kate did not oppose their decision to step back, she firmly believed they should lose their patronages and HRH titles upon leaving, which Harry found deeply hurtful.
Sources close to Harry reveal that he was taken aback and hurt by what felt like a spiteful banishment. Despite choosing to leave, Harry felt like an outsider and struggled to accept that the entire royal family seemed to turn against him, according to royal author Robert Jobson in his book Catherine, the Princess of Wales: The Biography.
Harry's resentment is primarily directed towards his brother, Prince William, and his father, King Charles III, with whom he shares a strained relationship, as reported by Mail Online. Despite returning to the UK for significant events such as the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee, her funeral, and King Charles's Coronation in May 2023, Harry has not played any official role or appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony due to his status as a non-working royal.
In February, Prince Harry returned to the UK for a brief 45-minute meeting with King Charles following news of his prostate cancer diagnosis. Harry has also been visiting more frequently due to ongoing court cases against newspaper publishers.
Despite these visits, reconciliation between Harry and William seems unlikely. As Fergie and Prince Andrew have resumed public appearances, a royal insider speculates whether King Charles is sending a message to his successor. "Perhaps the King is subliminally trying to show William that forgiving one's brother and giving him a second chance is a strength, not a weakness. Prince William disagrees, and as far as he is concerned, there is no way back," the insider revealed.
