Duke of Sussex Contacts UK Relatives Following Uncle's Passing
Prince Harry has reportedly reached out to his family members in the UK after the passing of his beloved uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes.
Living in the US with his family, the Duke of Sussex is believed to have spoken to his aunt, Lady Jane Fellowes, following the death of her husband. Lord Robert Fellowes, who was Princess Diana's brother-in-law and served as Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary, passed away last week at the age of 82.
According to US media, Prince Harry contacted Lady Jane, his late mother Princess Diana's older sister. There is speculation that Harry might return to the UK for his uncle's funeral, which could potentially lead to a reunion with his elder brother, Prince William.
A friend of Harry's told the Daily Beast, "In normal times, it would be unimaginable that Harry would not be there to support Jane. Of course, he would want to be there. But these are not normal times, and it may well be that everyone feels Harry’s attendance would just create too much drama."
The friend added, "It will be very sad for him if he can’t make it."
Royal commentator Michael Cole suggested that the loss of their uncle might not be enough to reconcile Harry and William, stating, "It is certain that they will express their sympathies separately, and strictly so, such is the gulf that has opened up between them in recent years, compared with which the Gulf of Mexico is a mere puddle."
