Prince William and Kate's Major Contribution Pushes London Air Ambulance Charity to £15 Million Goal

Royal Donation Drives Charity to Milestone, Funding New Fleet of Helicopters

The Prince and Princess of Wales have made a substantial private donation that has been instrumental in helping the London Air Ambulance charity achieve its £15 million fundraising target.

Although the specifics of William and Kate’s contribution remain confidential, their support has been pivotal in reaching this milestone. The donation will allow the charity to replace its aging fleet of helicopters with two state-of-the-art Airbus H135s.

This development comes as the royal family is also set to receive two helicopters funded by taxpayers.

William, a patron of the London Air Ambulance, has been actively involved in the campaign, attending fundraising galas—including one with Tom Cruise—and facilitating crucial meetings between charity officials and potential donors.

Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, expressed profound gratitude for the Prince’s support. "The support of the Prince of Wales throughout our campaign has been invaluable, both publicly and privately," Jenkins said. He highlighted that the Prince’s speeches at major fundraising events raised over £2 million and significantly enhanced the campaign’s visibility.

Jenkins acknowledged that without the Prince’s support, along with contributions from corporate sponsors, private backers, and community fundraisers, the appeal would not have reached its goal. The generous donations have enabled the charity to upgrade its fleet with two new Airbus H135 helicopters.
