Prince William and Prince Harry Grieve the Loss of Uncle Lord Robert Fellowes

Royals United in Grief as Prince William and Harry Mourn Beloved Family Member

Prince William and Prince Harry are in mourning following the death of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, who passed away at the age of 82. The brothers, who have faced ongoing tensions, are united in their grief over this significant loss.

Lord Robert Fellowes was the husband of Jane Fellowes, Princess Diana's older sister. He served as private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II during the 1990s, guiding the royal family through challenging times, including the annus horribilis of 1992. During this tumultuous period, the marriages of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, as well as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, came to an end, and a fire devastated Windsor Castle.

In 1997, Lord Robert played a crucial role following the tragic death of his sister-in-law, Princess Diana. As part of her trusted group of advisors, he helped navigate the royal family through this difficult time and contributed to the speech Queen Elizabeth II delivered to the nation from Buckingham Palace on the eve of Diana's funeral.

Jane and Lord Robert were married for over 40 years and had three children: Laura, Alexander, and Eleanor, who are cousins to Princes William and Harry. Laura Fellowes also serves as a godmother to Princess Charlotte.

Despite sometimes experiencing a strained relationship with Diana due to his courtier duties, Lord Robert expressed deep affection for her, stating, "I was deeply fond of her. She was a very good person. She found it difficult in life to find happiness, and I'm sad for people who have that situation."

Lord Robert Fellowes was portrayed by Andrew Havill in the acclaimed Netflix series, The Crown. Until his passing, he continued to serve as an extra equerry to the Queen. He died on Monday from undisclosed causes, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to the monarchy and a family in mourning.
