Royal Brothers' Relationship Strained Amid Family Health Scares
Earlier this year, Prince Harry and Prince William, whose relationship has been strained since the Sussexes stepped down from their senior royal duties in 2020, briefly communicated.
The royal family faced significant upheaval this year when King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February, followed by Kate Middleton's announcement of her own cancer treatment in March.
In response to these distressing developments, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reached out to William and Kate, but the reply they received was far from warm, according to royal author Tom Quinn.
“Harry and Meghan extended their sympathy to William, but their message did not include any suggestion to reconcile or that Harry should return to the UK,” Quinn shared with The Mirror.
The brothers’ relationship has been particularly strained since Harry’s candid revelations in his memoir, Spare.
“There is too much unresolved tension for that,” Quinn explained.
William, still hurt by Harry's past comments, did respond, but his reply was reportedly influenced by the palace, lacking the warmth and informality typical of brotherly communication.
“It felt more like a cautious exchange between two wary diplomats,” Quinn added.
This strained communication is particularly disheartening for Prince Harry, who is reportedly making efforts to reconcile with his father, King Charles.
