York Sisters Exhibit Contrasting Public Personas
Princess Beatrice has faced a challenging lesson in public scrutiny following the backlash over her attire at Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding. Compared to her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, who is more engaged with her royal status and public presence, Beatrice remains more reserved and private.
PR expert Rochelle White, Founder and Creative Director of Rochelle White Communications, shared insights with GB News, noting the differences between the York sisters. “Beatrice tends to keep herself private and away from public scrutiny, whereas Eugenie is more open and uses her status to enhance her personal brand and business ventures,” White explained. Eugenie, aged 34, is seen as more relatable and reachable, much like their mother, the Duchess of York, who actively engages with the public through her Instagram and media appearances.
In contrast, Princess Beatrice, aged 35, has been more cautious about her public image. She faced significant criticism for her choice of an eccentric Philip Treacy hat at the 2011 wedding, which led to widespread negative commentary and even a Facebook page dedicated to mocking her headwear. Although the page has since been deleted, the backlash was considerable.
Beatrice maintains a private Instagram account with only 674 followers, including close family and friends, in stark contrast to Eugenie's more open and popular presence with 1.8 million followers. This careful approach reflects Beatrice’s desire to avoid the public scrutiny that has accompanied her royal role, in contrast to Eugenie’s more embraced and strategic public engagement.
