Princess Kate and Prince William Advised to Protect Their Royal Titles

Tour of Wales Suggested to Bolster Support Amidst Role Controversy

Princess Kate and Prince William, who became the Prince and Princess of Wales after Queen Elizabeth II's passing in September 2022, have been advised to safeguard their royal titles. Amidst growing debate over their roles, a member of the Welsh Senedd has suggested the couple embark on a tour of Wales to alleviate tensions.

The recommendation comes as the future King and Princess Kate, who is reportedly facing health challenges, consider measures to address concerns regarding their new positions. James Evans shared these insights during an appearance on "The Royal Record" podcast, where he discussed Wales's views on Kate and William's official titles.

GB News's Royal Correspondent, Cameron Walker, asked Evans about the significance of the "Prince and Princess of Wales" titles, referencing a statement from the Plaid Cymru Senedd Group that claimed the title has "no formal place or responsibility in Welsh life."

In response, Evans emphasised the importance of these titles to Welsh public life, highlighting the significant impact of royal patronage. He noted the beneficial influence of the current King's support for various causes in Wales.

Evans cited the Brecon Show as an example, underscoring the need for royal patronage and expressing hope that the Prince and Princess of Wales would take on such roles. While acknowledging the debate over the necessity of the titles, he affirmed that the Welsh public values and respects them.

When questioned about the absence of plans for an investiture ceremony for Prince William, Evans suggested the significance of a welcoming service at St David's Cathedral, followed by a tour across Wales. He stressed the importance of connecting with communities represented by the titles, proposing this approach instead of a full-blown investiture ceremony.
