Poised and Composed, the Princess of Wales Steps into a Leading Role During a Pivotal Royal Event
Princess Kate's life experienced a significant shift during the funeral of Prince Philip, where she emerged as one of the most influential members of the Royal Family. Royal commentator Robert Jobson, in a conversation with Mail Online, described this moment as a "turning point for Catherine; a moment when she came of age."
At the 2021 funeral at Windsor Castle, Kate, then the Duchess of Cambridge, was recognised as a senior Royal Family member, offering essential support to the "grieving and frail" Queen Elizabeth. Jobson noted that the now Princess of Wales displayed "poise and calm" as she honoured her grandfather-in-law.
The royal author further observed that the funeral marked the end of an era, signalling the beginning of a new one in which Catherine is expected to play a central role, much like Prince Philip did during the early years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
Currently, Princess Kate is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer in March 2024. On June 14, she provided a health update to her fans, sharing, "I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days."
