Princess Kate's Wedding Ring Removal Sparks Debate Amid ‘Intense’ Chemotherapy Concerns

Royal Fans Speculate Over Missing Ring as Princess of Wales Undergoes Treatment

Princess Kate’s decision to remove her wedding ring has sparked discussions about the implications of her ongoing chemotherapy treatment.

Recently, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a celebratory message on their official social media, congratulating Team GB after the Olympics. In a video accompanying the message, royal fans noticed that while many were focused on Prince William’s beard, some observed that Princess Kate was wearing a different ring alongside her engagement ring, prompting curiosity about her missing wedding ring, as reported by GB News.

Kate’s decision to remove her wedding ring may be related to her announcement in March that she had begun a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Oncology pharmacist Dazhi Liu explained that chemotherapy can lead to fluid retention and skin issues, making it uncomfortable or even unsafe to wear rings. “During cancer treatment, there are several practical reasons why someone might need to take off their rings,” Liu said. “Chemotherapy can cause fluid retention in the hands, which might make rings tight and difficult.”

Liu further told Hello! that metal rings could interfere with radiation therapy, potentially causing burns on the skin around the ring. She also noted that removing rings can help prevent skin infections, which are a heightened risk during chemotherapy.

Despite removing her wedding ring, Kate continues to wear her sapphire engagement ring and a new special ring, suggesting that the change is likely due to comfort concerns.
