Mike and Zara Tindall Focus on Self-Made Success Instead of Royal Funding
Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike Tindall, are setting a positive example for other royals with their latest career move, emphasizing self-reliance over public funding.
According to a recent report, Zara and Mike are expanding their business empire with several new projects. Mike, 45, an English former rugby union player and member of the British royal family, has co-founded a new property management company called 24 Henrietta Street Bath Management with his hairdresser friend Samantha Higgins. He has also launched a drinks business with his close friend James Haskell called Blackeye Gin.
Zara, 43, a royal family member who receives no public funds, and her husband are committed to generating their own income to support their young family. A source explained, "Mike and Zara have been very good at ensuring that all the money they get is through their own hard work. Mike makes his TV and podcast appearances alongside setting up several small businesses to help take care of his family," according to Express UK.
The source continued, "Zara also has several projects she works on both here and abroad, plus she has all of her associations with the horse community. It's very commendable of them [the Tindalls] because they could just kick back and take handouts."
Mike, along with James Haskell and television presenter Alex Payne, founded Blackeye Gin—the 'unofficial spirit of rugby'—late last year. The Blackeye Rugby Fund associated with the brand invests £1.50 from each bottle sold to support its three key pillars: Research, Risk, and Recovery, providing aid to rugby players past and present.
King Charles III's niece is a non-executive director at Cheltenham Racecourse, a position she assumed in 2020, alongside her career as a professional equestrian. Zara is also an ambassador for the Australian racehorse auction house, Magic Millions, as is her husband, Mike. The couple typically travels to Australia annually to promote the races.
While they had previously considered relocating to Australia, the couple decided instead to dedicate a significant portion of their time to the country over the coming years rather than permanently moving overseas.
Zara and Mike are reportedly excited to join the royal family at Balmoral next week with their children, daughters Mia and Lena, and son Lucas.
