Buckingham Palace Highlights Duchess Sophie's Key Role Ahead of Prince Harry's UK Visit

King Charles’ Office Praises Sophie Wessex’s Impactful Work During Tanzania Visit

Buckingham Palace has shared an uplifting update on royal engagements ahead of Prince Harry’s return to the UK, spotlighting the Duchess of Edinburgh’s recent humanitarian efforts in Tanzania.

The Palace highlighted Sophie Wessex’s role as Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), celebrating her dedication to tackling treatable medical diseases and empowering communities through health and agriculture initiatives.

During her visit, the Duchess engaged in a candid interview, reflecting on the progress made in the country since her last trip. Praising Tanzania’s advancements, Sophie underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between the UK and Tanzania in achieving health and women’s empowerment goals.

Nancy Sumari, a prominent media figure, noted, “The Duchess of Edinburgh visited Tanzania to celebrate the collaboration between the UK and Tanzania on health, agriculture, and women's empowerment.” Sumari added that Sophie’s visit included tours of healthcare projects in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, focusing on eliminating treatable diseases like blinding trachoma.

The Palace’s update comes as Prince Harry prepares for his upcoming visit to attend the WellChild Awards, a charity he has supported for over 16 years. It remains uncertain if the Duke of Sussex will meet with his father, King Charles, during his stay in the UK.
