The Duke and Duchess of Sussex face pressure to deliver a hit before their 2025 Netflix contract deadline.
The Duke of Sussex’s recent decision to pursue a solo project with Netflix has reportedly sparked disappointment among insiders. The Sussexes, who entered a high-profile contract with the streaming platform in 2020 after stepping down from royal duties, have yet to release another collaborative project since their successful debut series Harry & Meghan in December 2022.
Although Harry launched Heart of Invictus in 2023, the show did not replicate the record-breaking success of their first docuseries. Now, the Duke is working on a new project titled Polo, but sources reveal he will not play a major role in the production. Instead, the show will centre around his close friend, polo player Nacho Figueras.
One insider remarked, "Any reasonable person tuning into a show about polo made by Harry would expect him to be front and centre. The fact that he’s not is disappointing for Netflix."
With the Sussexes’ contract set to expire in 2025, sources claim the couple must deliver another high-profile hit soon, or their deal may not be renewed.
