Prince William and Catherine's Children Shine at Lambrook School in Berkshire
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis returned to Lambrook School in Berkshire this week, resuming their studies after the summer break.
The royal siblings—George, Charlotte, and Louis—enrolled at the prep school in September 2022. After a family vacation with their grandfather, King Charles, at Balmoral, the children are now advancing to new academic levels: George in Year 7, Charlotte in Year 5, and Louis in Year 2.
Despite their royal status, the children are known at school by their first names and the surname "Wales," a tribute to their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales. This naming tradition mirrors that of their father, Prince William, and follows the custom of using a parental title as a surname.
In public, members of the royal family are often referred to by their titles and first names. However, for official and everyday use, surnames such as Windsor and Mountbatten-Windsor—established by Queen Elizabeth II in 1960—are used to denote lineage and non-royal descendants.
