Duchess Reportedly Advises Against Meeting Amid Monarch’s Health Concerns
Queen Camilla is reportedly advising King Charles against meeting with Harry during the Duke’s upcoming visit to London next week, according to sources.
Harry is scheduled to be in the UK on Monday for the WellChild Awards, but it remains uncertain whether he will see his father. The two last met in February for a 45-minute discussion at Clarence House following the news of King Charles' cancer diagnosis. Since then, Harry has returned to the UK twice without meeting his father, citing the King's busy schedule as the reason during his May visit.
The King, who is currently in Scotland for engagements and undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer, has no plans to return to London during Harry's stay. According to insiders, Queen Camilla has been urging King Charles to avoid any meetings that might cause additional stress.
“She has been the principal voice urging Charles to slow down and take things easy. The last thing she wants him to do is get stressed out over a meeting with Harry,” a source told the Daily Beast.
However, another source suggests that King Charles is still open to meeting Harry, as he wishes to reconcile and heal the rift within the family. “The king has an instinctive impulse towards Christian reconciliation, and his cancer diagnosis has only heightened that. He wants this settled, not just because he loves both his sons, but because it has been so destabilising for the monarchy,” the source shared.
As tensions remain high, it is yet to be seen whether father and son will take the opportunity to bridge the divide during Harry’s brief visit.
