Despite the ongoing tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry, Kate Middleton finds herself torn over whether to send her brother-in-law a birthday message as he turns 40 on September 14th. The Princess of Wales, who reportedly maintains a soft spot for Harry, is conflicted between her desire to reach out and her loyalty to her husband.
Prince Harry has previously referred to Kate as the “sister he never had,” and she was a strong support for him in the early years of her marriage to William. However, according to Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, Kate’s hesitation stems from William’s feelings of betrayal following the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare.
“Kate wants nothing more than for William to reach out and wish Harry a happy birthday,” Burrell told Closer magazine, adding that Kate has always been the mediator and longs for the brothers to reconcile. However, Burrell explained that William “does not like betrayal,” and Kate feels obligated to support her husband’s stance fully.
Burrell noted that while Kate feels naturally torn about sending a birthday message, she understands she must align with William’s position.
This emotional struggle for Kate comes shortly after she announced in a heartwarming video that she is now “cancer-free” following a nine-month battle with the illness. The video provided a rare glimpse into the tight-knit Wales family and showed Kate focusing on her recovery while offering a message of hope to those still fighting cancer.
