Medical specialists urge women to stay vigilant as the Princess of Wales undergoes treatment
Kate Middleton, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy following her cancer diagnosis, has chosen not to disclose specific details about her condition, maintaining her right to medical privacy. Earlier this year, the Princess of Wales made a heartbreaking announcement, shedding light on a concerning trend where many young women are missing early warning signs of cancer.
Consultant gynaecologist Ashfaq Khan has urged women to be alert for any changes in their bodies. Similarly, Mariyam Malik, a health specialist from Pall Mall Medical, emphasized the importance of regular self-examinations. “I encourage all of my patients to check their bodies every month,” she said. “Set a reminder for the first of every month to ‘Feel it on the First’ and learn the key things to look out for.”
Malik, in an interview with GB News, further urged women to attend cancer screenings, noting that these appointments are often quick, painless, and essential for early detection.
A recent study by Pall Mall Medical revealed alarming statistics: 43% of women lack confidence in checking for cancer symptoms, and 35% admit to not performing monthly self-exams. Shockingly, 9% have never checked themselves at all. NHS data also shows that one in three women decline cervical cancer screenings, even though cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women under 35 in England.
Kate Middleton shared her cancer journey in a poignant video in March, revealing that preventative chemotherapy was initiated after cancer was detected during abdominal surgery. Meanwhile, King Charles is also battling cancer, adding to the royal family's health challenges.
