Queen Consort Advocates for Family Unity Despite Past Tensions
Queen Camilla is reportedly encouraging King Charles to reconcile with his estranged son, Harry, despite lingering hurt over her portrayal in his memoir, Spare. The Duke of Sussex had harshly referred to Camilla as a “wicked stepmother,” “dangerous,” and “evil,” leading to further strain in their relationship.
The release of the memoir widened the rift between Harry and his father, resulting in the Sussexes being asked to vacate their Windsor residence, Frogmore Cottage. However, Camilla is said to be the driving force behind King Charles’ recent efforts to reconnect, urging him to build a stronger relationship with his US-based grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Sources reveal that while King Charles enjoys a close bond with his other grandchildren, he regrets not being more present in the lives of Harry’s children. Video calls have occasionally bridged the gap, but the King wishes for more meaningful interactions.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward emphasised that family has always been of utmost importance to King Charles, and it is a source of sadness for him not to have more contact with Archie and Lilibet. With recent health concerns, the King is increasingly motivated to establish a deeper connection, hoping to impart his wisdom and be an involved grandfather while he can.
