King Charles and Queen Camilla have expressed their deep sorrow over the catastrophic flooding that has ravaged central Europe, resulting in tragic loss and widespread devastation.
In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, the King voiced his concern: “My wife and I are profoundly shocked and saddened to see the destruction and devastation caused by the catastrophic flooding in central Europe.”
Highlighting the enduring connections between the United Kingdom and the affected regions, the King added, “Together with them, my wife and I send our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all those who have so tragically lost their loved ones, their homes, and their livelihoods.”
The monarch also commended the “sheer courage and dedication” of the emergency services working tirelessly to provide essential support and relief to the many individuals whose lives have been upended by the disaster.
Heavy rains earlier this month triggered severe flooding in countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania, with northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region particularly hard-hit, forcing thousands to evacuate as rivers overflowed. The death toll has risen to 23, including seven fatalities each in Poland and Romania, five in Austria, and four in the Czech Republic.
King Charles’s compassionate message follows his recent tribute to Prince Harry on his 40th birthday, underscoring his ongoing commitment to addressing global humanitarian crises.
