'Every Medal Represents a Story of Courage,' Says the Monarch
King Charles expressed deep emotion in a heartfelt message to British Paralympians as Matt Bush and Poppy Maskill carried the Team GB flag at the Closing Ceremony in Paris. The 75-year-old monarch praised the athletes, describing them as "inspiring, encouraging, and lifting the hearts of all."
In a message shared via the royal family's social media on Sunday, the King and Queen offered their congratulations to the athletes of Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the Commonwealth for their successes at the Games. "Behind every medal won lies a wonderful story of courage, commitment, and true talent," King Charles wrote, celebrating both the competitors and their support teams.
The monarch concluded by emphasising the athletes' positive impact on the world: "Your example has succeeded in inspiring, encouraging, and lifting the hearts of all. Charles R."
Team GB proudly finished second in the medals table, behind China and ahead of the United States.
