Disgraced Royal Faces Depression and Distress Over Latest Controversies
Prince Andrew is reportedly struggling with the relentless criticism directed at him, leading to feelings of distress as he deals with his ongoing issues.
The embattled royal is said to be deeply affected by the release of the three-part film A Very Royal Scandal, which has brought renewed scrutiny to him and his family.
“He is depressed, and Sarah and their daughters are anxious about this show,” a friend of Andrew shared with The Daily Beast.
The source emphasised that Andrew maintains he has no recollection of meeting Giuffre and denies any wrongdoing. “He knows he made mistakes and has accepted his punishment. He relinquished his HRH title, military roles, and public duties without complaint,” the friend stated.
Andrew is reportedly questioning the duration of his continued punishment.
Meanwhile, his daughters are caught in a difficult position due to their father's situation.
“Imagine being in their place. This film tarnishes their father, and any defence from them would only worsen things,” said a source close to the family.
A friend of Beatrice added, “There’s no positive way to look at this. It’s a dreadful situation for all of them, so they are focusing on moving forward with their lives.”
The Amazon series depicts Andrew’s controversial Newsnight interview and the allegations of inappropriate conduct with a minor, which he eventually settled in court without admitting guilt.
