Prince Harry is reportedly shifting his approach in the U.S. following a recent setback involving his brother, Prince William. The Prince of Wales delivered a significant blow to Harry and Meghan Markle by hiring chef and humanitarian José Andrés, a known ally of the Sussexes, for his prominent Earthshot Prize eco project.
While it remains unclear if Andrés maintains his close ties with the Sussexes, sources indicate that Harry is now narrowing his circle of friends to protect his family. According to an insider speaking to Us Weekly, Harry has “a small group of close friends,” prioritizing the safety and well-being of his wife, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
“He’ll always have a fondness for the UK,” the insider explained, “but his family is his priority, and he’s committed to keeping them safe and happy in Montecito.”
Royal expert Phil Dampier told The Sun that Harry may feel “jealous” and harbour “a little bit of resentment” over William’s latest hire. However, it’s uncertain if Andrés had a falling out with the Sussexes, with Dampier suggesting the chef may have remained friends with both brothers.
As members of the Sussex team have left in recent years, Harry appears to be relying on a select few loyal confidants to avoid further defections to Prince William’s camp.
