Prince Harry Set to Face José Andrés After Chef Joins Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Panel

Chef José Andrés, a former close ally of the Sussexes, now aligned with Prince William's initiative

Celebrity chef José Andrés, once a strong supporter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will meet the Duke of Sussex for the first time since joining Prince William’s Earthshot Prize judging panel. The encounter is expected to take place later this month at a Clinton Foundation event in New York, where Harry will speak alongside actor Matt Damon and Andrés.

Previously described as "especially close" to the Sussexes, Andrés’ recent collaboration with Prince William has reportedly caused discomfort for the couple. According to insiders, the Prince of Wales’ decision to involve Andrés has highlighted the growing tension between the brothers. A source remarked, "The fact that William could bring José on board for Earthshot is a clear illustration of the power dynamic between William and Harry, and it has left Harry and Meghan in a difficult position."

As the founder of World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit aiding communities in disaster recovery, Andrés has been a key figure in global humanitarian work. Regarding his new role, he stated, "I am thrilled to join the Earthshot Prize Council and help showcase the innovators pushing boundaries for a better world."

Despite this new alignment, Andrés has previously praised the Sussexes for their hands-on approach, stating, "In a world where opinions fly freely, the Duke and Duchess don’t just talk about compassion, they act on it and run towards the struggle." Now, the couple may have to reconsider their relationship with the celebrated chef as he steps into Prince William's circle.
