Duke of Sussex Joins First Lady at Clinton Global Initiative Following Voting Advocacy
Prince Harry is set to team up with Dr. Jill Biden at the Clinton Global Initiative 2024, taking place from September 23. This collaboration comes shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex encouraged Americans to register to vote ahead of the upcoming election. The event, which will also feature the Governors of New York and Kentucky, will see both Harry and the First Lady speak on various global issues.
The couple’s recent statement on their Archewell website highlighted their commitment to civic engagement, stating, “Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.” Their efforts, using Vote Forward’s letter-writing tool to engage unregistered voters, underscore their focus on empowering communities through increased voter participation.
While the Sussexes have not publicly endorsed any candidates, their involvement in promoting voter registration has drawn attention, particularly from political figures like Donald Trump, who has previously criticised the couple. Meanwhile, Harry’s visit to New York will also include engagements with several of his patronages, such as African Parks and The HALO Trust, as well as furthering the work of The Archewell Foundation.
The timing of this event coincides with other high-profile activities in the city, including the UN General Assembly and Climate Week, where Harry’s brother, Prince William, may also be present for the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit. This potential overlap raises speculation about a possible meeting between the royal brothers, although it remains unconfirmed.
