The Duke of Sussex, alongside his wife, attended the opening ceremony of a bookstore named Godmothers in Montecito, owned by their close friends, literary agent Rudolph Rudolph Walsh and cosmetics mogul Victoria Jackson.
The store’s name, as revealed by Town & Country, was inspired by Harry’s previous comment, referring to Walsh, Jackson, and Oprah Winfrey as his "fairy godmothers" during a Beverly Hills event for his book Spare. This latest connection with Oprah, who famously interviewed Harry and Meghan in 2021, has reopened old wounds for the royal family, particularly King Charles.
The 2021 interview left the monarch and senior royals deeply hurt by Harry and Meghan’s revelations. Additionally, Harry’s memoir Spare, which further strained his relationship with King Charles, Prince William, and Catherine, was prominently displayed at the bookstore, potentially causing further damage to family ties.
