Royal Photographer and Experts Weigh In on Harry’s Strained Relationship with the Royals
Prince Harry’s recent visits to the UK without his wife, Meghan Markle, have sparked concerns over his relationship with the royal family. According to royal photographer Arthur Edwards, Harry is attempting to rebuild his image in the UK, though Meghan has notably chosen to remain in California during these trips.
Edwards shared his view, stating, "I think he thinks he’s bigger than he actually is," adding that the King is "gutted" about not seeing his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, who are missing out on royal life while staying in Montecito. Edwards believes Harry has become "the loser, big time" by distancing himself from the royal family and relocating to a celebrity-centric lifestyle in California.
Harry has made multiple visits to the UK since leaving in 2020, including attending the Queen’s funeral, King Charles' coronation, and, most recently, a memorial for his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes. During this trip, Harry stayed at Althorp House, reconnecting with his late mother Princess Diana’s family. However, his relationship with his brother Prince William remains frosty, with reports of no communication between the two during the event.
Despite ongoing tensions, royal experts suggest that King Charles hopes for a reconciliation with Harry, not only to repair their relationship but also to see more of his grandchildren. Royal author Phil Dampier noted, "The King would like to have a reconciliation with his son at some point," hinting at the possibility of a future resolution.
