Legal Effort to Uncover Duke of Sussex’s Visa Details Ends Without Resolution
A lawsuit aimed at uncovering Prince Harry’s US visa status has been officially terminated, according to reports. The legal action, initiated by The Heritage Foundation, sought to obtain the Duke of Sussex’s visa records through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security.
The conservative think tank pursued the release of Harry’s visa documents, citing his admissions of drug use in his memoir Spare. Despite the push for transparency, the case has come to a close, leaving unanswered questions about the reasons behind its termination and whether Harry’s visa records will remain confidential.
The Heritage Foundation argued that Harry’s self-disclosed drug use, including cocaine and marijuana, could have immigration consequences. However, government attorneys countered, stating they "cannot confirm or deny" the existence of his visa records, citing privacy concerns and the potential for "unwarranted invasion" of the Duke’s personal information.
