The Prince and Princess of Wales mirror the Sussexes' media strategy for a greater royal cause.
Despite their differences with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince William and Catherine are now following a similar path to Harry and Meghan by embracing a more public and modern media approach. The Prince and Princess of Wales recently broke tradition by releasing a personal video in which Catherine announced she was “cancer-free,” giving the public a rare glimpse into their private lives.
According to royal expert Tim Teeman, William and Catherine are managing their public image with as much strategy as Harry and Meghan. “Kate and William are selling themselves just as ruthlessly as the Sussexes,” Teeman commented, noting that while the Sussexes are more direct, the Waleses take a subtler approach.
Teeman explained that this evolution in royal visibility is not new, with Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana also adapting to maintain public support. The goal remains unchanged: to ensure the monarchy's continued relevance and funding. William and Catherine’s embrace of this strategy is part of a broader effort to secure the monarchy’s future as they take on increasingly prominent roles.
