Future King Unveils New Partnership for Homewards Project to Tackle Homelessness
Kensington Palace has released a heartwarming video of Prince William delivering a powerful speech at the Homewards event in Aberdeen, coinciding with news of Prince Harry’s impending visit to the UK.
In his speech, the Prince of Wales highlighted the pressing issue of homelessness, describing it as a “complex societal issue” that affects “far too many people.” He shared his vision for ending homelessness through his Homewards initiative, stating, “I created Homewards because I wanted us to look at the issue of homelessness through a different lens, to inspire a movement to prevent people from ever experiencing homelessness in the first place.”
The video, shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram story, captures William announcing a significant new partnership for Homewards. This collaboration with the Blue Light Card community will offer discounts and perks to those working in the homelessness sector, recognising their essential contributions.
Alidad Moghaddam, CEO of Blue Light Card, praised the initiative, saying, “This workforce may not be as visible as nurses, doctors, police, or firefighters, but we see them.” The five-year Homewards project aims to end the homelessness crisis and has already helped members save over £330 million, improving mental well-being and providing financial support.
Prince William’s announcement comes as his brother, Prince Harry, is set to return to the UK to attend the WellChild Awards. The timing of these events showcases both brothers' dedication to their respective causes, drawing attention to critical issues facing society.
