Prince William Makes Thoughtful Decision to Support Prince Harry's New York Visit

Prince of Wales Takes Strategic Step to Avoid Conflict Amidst Brother’s Solo Trip

Prince William has made a considerate choice to avoid overshadowing his brother, Prince Harry, during his recent visit to New York City. The future king chose not to travel to the US for Climate Week, where he was scheduled to reveal the finalists for the 2024 Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit.

Instead of attending the event in person, William announced the 15 finalists via a pre-recorded video, allowing Harry’s engagements in the city to take centre stage. This decision is seen as a significant gesture, reflecting William's efforts to support his brother's solo work without creating unnecessary media attention.

While William stayed back, global advisor to Earthshot Prize winners Michael Bloomberg addressed the summit in person. The Earthshot Prize, founded by the Prince of Wales in 2010, aims to spotlight groundbreaking solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry, who arrived in New York on Sunday, is actively participating in events supporting his patronages, while Meghan Markle remains in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet. This move by William highlights his willingness to prioritise harmony and mutual respect in the midst of their individual pursuits.

The Earthshot Prize winners will be announced at a ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa, on November 6.
