Prince of Wales Steps Back from Thrill-Seeking Hobby to Ease Wife’s Worries
Prince William has chosen to give up his passion for motorbiking out of consideration for his wife, Catherine, prioritising her well-being and that of their family.
The Princess of Wales previously spoke about her anxiety over William's love for the high-risk sport and her intention to keep their children away from it. During a royal engagement in Dundee, Scotland, in 2015, Catherine revealed her fears, stating, “It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I'm terrified. Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.”
Despite being an enthusiastic motorbike rider since his youth, the Prince of Wales has toned down his thrill-seeking activities since becoming a father of three. Reflecting on his past love for the sport during a visit to the Isle of Man TT motorcycle races, William said, “I’m a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips; for me, biking was always about being with everybody else.”
William’s decision to step back from motorbiking highlights his commitment to his family, putting their safety and peace of mind above his own passion for adventure.
