Duchess of York Shares Emotional Post Marking 26 Years Since Mother’s Tragic Passing
Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram to mark the 26th anniversary of her mother Susan Barrantes’s passing, moving her daughter Princess Eugenie to respond with an emotional tribute of her own.
The Duchess posted several photos of her mother, including a touching image of Susan joining Sarah on the Buckingham Palace balcony during her 1986 wedding to Prince Andrew. Other images featured beautiful portraits of Susan, including a stunning black-and-white shot and another where she looked radiant in a red dress.
Reflecting on her mother's life, Sarah wrote, “My much-loved mother Susie died 26 years ago today. She was far too young to be taken from us... I think constantly of her zest for life and her shining spirit. Like all of us, she made mistakes but she taught me to value each and every day and to always seek to treat people with kindness. I miss her greatly.”
Princess Eugenie shared her mother’s post on her Instagram Stories, adding the caption, “Miss beautiful Granny Susie,” expressing her own sadness and love for her late grandmother.
Susan Barrantes tragically died in a car accident at the age of 61, while traveling with her nephew, Raphael, who survived the incident with minor injuries. The poignant post and Eugenie’s response highlight the close bond between the York family and their continued remembrance of Susan’s legacy.
