Royal Family Releases Statement After Harry’s ‘Save Lives’ Video Message

Buckingham Palace honours Dwayne Fields for becoming the UK's new Chief Scout, following Prince Harry’s moving appeal

King Charles III’s office has paid a special tribute to Dwayne Fields, the newly appointed Chief Scout of the UK. Fields, 41, who transformed his life after a troubled past, has taken over from TV personality Bear Grylls to lead half a million young people and volunteers across Britain.

The royal family’s official social media platforms shared a heartfelt video highlighting Fields' journey, alongside a message shortly after Prince Harry’s emotional statement about the transformative power of sport. Harry had expressed, "Sport has the ability to heal, to change lives, and to save lives."

Buckingham Palace followed with their own statement, congratulating Fields: "Congratulations @DwayneFields on becoming Chief Scout, inspiring half a million @Scouts to believe in themselves, help other people, and gain #SkillsForLife!"

As part of his new role, Fields will focus on attracting volunteers from communities not traditionally involved in scouting, with the aim of encouraging more young people to join. His appointment was formally announced at a north London park, where he first began his journey in the Scouts.

Reflecting on his experiences, Fields commented, "Scouts helped shape who I am today, and I hope my story will inspire others to join and achieve their dreams."
