Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew Face Tough Decision Over Royal Lodge Move

Yorks Under Pressure as King Charles Cuts Support for Royal Lodge Expenses

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew are reportedly being urged to make a practical decision regarding their future residence, as King Charles plans to end his financial support for the Duke’s £3 million annual security costs at Royal Lodge in November.

This development has put pressure on the couple to vacate the expansive Windsor property. While Sarah owns a luxury townhouse in London’s Belgravia, currently rented out to tenants for £16,000 a month, it may not be an immediate option for relocation.

The couple could consider moving into a similar luxury townhouse, which would be significantly cheaper to maintain compared to the 30-room Royal Lodge. Properties on the same street are available for £4,000 a week—half the cost of maintaining their current home.

Sources suggest that downsizing to a more affordable property would be a "sensible move" given the financial burden of staying at Royal Lodge. However, Andrew has reportedly resisted the idea of relocating, despite King Charles's offer of Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Royal expert Jennie Bond has advised the Duke to consider the King’s proposal seriously, noting that the secure Windsor estate property could provide a more manageable living arrangement while still maintaining a connection to the royal family.
